Based on Ronald Harwood’s own experiences as dresser to a distinguished English Shakespearean actor, THE DRESSER was nominated for an Oliver Award after its world premiere in London in 1980, and Tony Award and Drama Desk nominations after its debut on Broadway during the same year. Adapted to a screenplay in 1983, the film version was nominated for five Academy Awards.
