Make ‘Em Laugh was a very special comedy show which brought together luminaries of Cork comedy from the past 60 years. MAKE ‘EM LAUGH - THE SHOW was performed in October 2008 to mark the publication of the Everyman Palace Theatre’s second title in association with The Collins Press, MAKE ‘EM LAUGH – A GOLDEN AGE OF THEATRE by Declan Hassett.
MAKE ‘EM LAUGH – THE SHOW featured some of Cork’s all time favourite performers. Audiences were re-acquainted with Cha and Miah from the legendary Halls Pictorial Weekly (Michael Twomey and Frank Duggan) who reformed exclusively for the show, along with Paddy Comerford, Tony Hegarty, Noel Barrett, Pat Sullivan, Mon Murphy, Jim Queally, Hugh Moynihan, Deirdre White and many more.
MAKE ‘EM LAUGH – A GOLDEN AGE OF THEATRE by Declan Hassett is published by Everyman Palace Theatre in association with The Collins Press, and is priced at €16.99, available from the Everyman Palace Theatre box office and all good book stores. Click here to read more.
'The publication of Declan Hassett’s book, Make ‘Em Laugh!, is a fine addition to a depleted national archive on comedy and popular theatre in Ireland.'
The Munster Express
'This nostalgic book celebrates great moments of Cork theatre since the 1940s. Lovingly written by former Irish Examiner arts editor, Declan Hassett, it celebrates a time when theatre was "the great escape", before television and computer games.'
